About Mill Race Village
Founded nearly 100 years before the American Revolution, Mount Holly has maintained the charms of classic small- town America, giving it a personality and sense of community that is hard to find nowadays. The Mill Race Village is no exception. As Mount Holly’s oldest community, the Village garnered its name from the “Mill Race”; a hand-dug waterway that was made to branch off the Rancocas Creek. This waterway energized the many mills which once operated in Mount Holly, along with several other industries during the 18th and 19th centuries.
Today, the Mill Race waterway still runs through the Mill Race Shopping District. It has become a go-to destination for small businesses, creating a unique focal point for visitors, and serving a community of artisans.
